The importance of teaching writing
As it is commonly understood, an advanced English as a Second Language learner must be prepared to face any task in English, including to write well-designed documents; consequently he forced to learn Writing. However, most of the time the student find learning Writing very difficult, especially when he has to write essays. It is thought that writing is a challenging task due to some aspects such as expressing author's ideas clearly, and using language correctly.
Firstly, Writing is challenging because learner has to be careful in order to support his point of view so that they can convince, and keep readers’ interest on the essay. One difficulty that they may find is that students give a statement, and then he has to explain why that is given. For example, if students write an idea and this is not supported enough, readers might not be convinced. Another difficulty is that the apprentice must maintain readers interest. For instance, when the student is writing he has to think carefully how to create statements that draw readers’ attention in order for the lector to continue reading. Thus, a student has to be meticulous to express his ideas so that readers can be more convinced, and continue reading.
Secondly, an ESL learner considers Writing challenging due to the use of English. If a writer wants to be fully understood, they have to use the language properly. For this reason, some aspects like grammar, vocabulary, and sentence level has to be taken into account. The first aspect is grammar structure, which has to deal with the parts of speech and an accurate punctuation, both of them will help to convey the writers’ message thoroughly. The second reason is vocabulary usage For example, writers have to be careful to use the correct words in a context; in this way they will not confuse the lector. The last aspect is sentences level, which is an appropriate utilization of Coordinators and Subordinators.
