The Hunger Games
By: Suzanne Collins
Book Report

The title of this book I think means that Katniss's life in District 12 is pretty much a competition to survive against poverty and starvation and hunger. I picked this book because everyone told me that it was a really good book. The librarian also told me that it was a very good book. Suzanne Collins is a New York Times Bestselling Author. Katniss Everdeen is the main character of my book. She is a teenage girl who lives in District 12, a poor coal-mining region in the country of Panem. Peeta is a baker's son, which is believed to make him wealthier and better fed than most people in District 12. Haymitch is a former District 12 tribute and winner of the Hunger Games who is now a middle-aged drunk. Effie Trinket is the pink-haired prim and proper escort for the District 12 tributes. She's a Hunger Games administrator, and her character represents the wealth and power of the government. The setting of The Hunger Games takes place in a gloomy North America by the name of Panem. Panem is the name of the country where Katniss lives with her family. District 12 is a very poor coal-mining district located in the Appalachians. Katniss and her family live in the poor section of District 12, the Seam, where the coal-miners live and work. The Capitol is a shining city of wealth and magnificence city located where the Rockies used to be. The main conflict in the book is man vs. man, Katniss against the rest of the 23 tributes. She fights for her life against them in the Hunger Games. Also a little bit of man vs. self, as in Katniss fighting with who she is willing to kill and who she doesn't want to kill. Man vs. nature in the way that the environment of the games is mainly dangerous. Another conflict was Katniss vs. The Capitol.  The Capitol controlled all the districts and made them work while they got to enjoy all of the luxuries. Those are just a few of the major conflicts.

The climax of my book...
