HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG

According to me the movie House of Sand and Fog is a tragic, scary, sad film and yet it is a flawless movie, yes a flawless one because it manages to keep the audience at the edge of their seats. Even though it is a slow movie it still grabs the attention on the audience and makes them wonder what is going to happen next, or what is going to happen to the hurt, or about the justice in the movie. The characters in the movie are so deep and the dialogues makes you think about what’s going to happen next in this movie the tragic ride can be enjoyed. In the movie Jennifer Connelly’s character is a very cheerless one and gray, however she doesn’t get overemotional. The direction and the screenplay is done so well that she doesn’t need any other tool to make her look gloomy and she caught on to the audience with the painful look throughout the movie. The other character I personally like in the movie is Ben Kingsley, his performance in the movie is radiant because whatever he says in the movie, nothing is useless or senseless. His character is such that he says things which don’t hurt anyone like his family members and he’s way to loving towards his family honors. Shohreh Aghdashloo is one character who provides total balance in the act, she has kept her cool throughout the movie, and she loses it when the son is shot dead. The cinematography was to its brilliance a superb use of lighting in the movie moving from the bright opening beginning of the story it darkens through time to the bleak and dismal closing scenes. The light is always warm and inviting, with any artificial light looking hygienic and the darker shots bleak and dismal. Some of the time lapse shots between scenes are beautiful. Overall the movie is a classic tragedy, the characters have acted really well and it seems to be realistic enough, it’s even convincing because the actors are into whatever role they are playing.
