Hot Zone

The Hot Zone is a true story that took place in the late 1980's. It is based on an outbreak of the Ebola virus in a monkey house located in the Washington, D.C. suburb of Reston, Virginia. The author tells about several previous outbreaks in Africa describing the effects and damages an outbreak could cause. The first appearance of an Ebola-like virus takes place in Kenya and takes the life of a French expatriate named Charles Monet. He experiences a painful and bloody death. Monet becomes ill, showing the extreme danger of the exposure to this disease. In the first half of the book, several outbreaks and deaths are described.

This book was definitely medical related; it explained a disease, the effects of the disease, causes, cases and medical need. [continues]
