Imagine falling in love, with the beauty of innocence, mangled with the wisdom of experience. It would make you strive to be better than anyone thought you could be his external drive only he could see Imagine having anyone your heart could desire.
Anyone to be won.
All the money you could aquire. But it will make you greedy,
And greed causes loss. Imagine wanting nothing, and getting it. That was Gatsby.
He wanted to be Daisy’s idea of perfect. And there he stand, way off in his ambitions, hand in hand. Falling deeper in love every minute and he didn’t even care. He looked at Daisy the way every young girl wanted to be seen.
The words Gatsby would say, made any girl feel like a queen. But Daisy was a fool,
For she was with Tom’s wife,
But Tom was a tool,
Diasy wasn’t the only girl in his life. For Tom had Mrytle,
And Mrytle had George. But Gatsby tought me, among this mess. There are all types of love vice big or small, but never the same twice. In this mess,
Daisy ran Mrytle down.
As you can guess,
All Tom did was frown. It resulted in Mrytle’s death and Gearge lost his wife,
So with Gatsby’s last breath he ended his life. The loneliest moment in someone’ s life,
Is when they are watching their whole world fall apart. All you can do is stare blankely.

"The beauty and splendor of Gatsby's parties masked the innate corruption within the heart of the Roaring Twenties. Jazz-Age society was a bankrupt world, devoid of morality, and plagued by a crisis of character," are the words of F. Scott Fitzgerald. This statement is true of the time period due to the fact that Daisy, Tom and Jordan were, in contrast to Gatsby, completely self-absorbed in their own pleasures, paying no attention to the honor and value of morality. At this time, many people began to take interest in material things rather than non-material things.…

The Great Gatsby written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, portrays a society of high social standings, immense wealth, and love. This can be classified as the American Dream. If an individual is determined, that individual has a reasonable chance and holds the hope for acquiring wealth, and the happiness and freedoms that go with it. In essence, the American Dream gives the chance to gain personal fulfillment, materially and spiritually. In The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald depicts the American Dream as an unachievable illusion, one which is ultimately detrimental to the novel’s central character, Jay Gatsby. Jay Gatsby tries to attain happiness, Daisy’s love, which is all he wants, but ends up failing. Evidently, Gatsby may have achieved the definition of the American Dream, but at a personal standpoint, he failed to accomplish what he was truly aiming for.…

T.E. Lawrence stated “All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.” In The Great Gatsby, the central theme is realizing that creating your own dreams and living in your reality is extremely different. Myrtle dreamt of having money, yet knew Tom would never leave Daisy, Gatsby dreamt of being with the Daisy he created, but realized she had changed, and Daisy dreamt of being in love and being with Gatsby, but would NEVER leave Tom.…

"I wanted to get out and walk eastward toward the park through the soft twilight but each time I tried to go I became entangled in some wild strident argument which pulled me back, as if with ropes, into my chair. Sisyphus, a Greek myth character, was condemned to push a giant boulder up a hill for eternity, only for it to return to the bottom before he can finish his task. Similarly, Tom, Daisy, Gatsby, Nick from The Great Gatsby, and even the 1920’s society itself move both forwards and backwards simultaneously as they navigate the waters of life. F. Scott Fitzgerald addresses this aphorism throughout the novel, and the final lines summarize it very thoroughly: “So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past” (Fitzgerald, 189). As described in the final lines of the novel, the main characters in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby and the society in which they live portray the contrasting pull of life and the continual movement both forwards and back.…

While thrown into this materialistic, money-oriented time period and setting in The Great Gatsby, one would expect to find equally egotistical and selfish characters, and for the most part, there are. Tom Buchanan is practically the definition of narcissistic when he is introduced with his arrogant riding clothes and supercilious manner. His wife Daisy is not that different, desiring nothing more than beauty and possessions and understanding only self-centered desires. One would then expect Jay Gatsby, the wealthiest of them all, to be equally unlikable. “Gatsby…represented everything in which I have an unaffected scorn” the narrator, Nick states in the opening on the novel. However, despite the dishonesty, materialism, and disillusionment, it is easy to find oneself liking Gatsby. “There was something gorgeous about him,” Nick also states, contracting his previous statement, “some heightened sensitivity” (6). Readers become fond of Gatsby despite the wrong he’s done and his involvement in the materialistic world because of his romantic and unselfish intentions.…

The author, Nick Carraway, states that he has very high moral standards and he has reserved all judgements so he does not misunderstand people and what they have gone through. The reader is introduced to Tom and Daisy Buchanan. The reader suggests Tom is a very successful man and has everything in life he could image, while Daisy is a very charming and pleasant young lady. Many people do not like Tom because he is arrogant and a cocky racist, and Daisy describes him as “a brute of a man, a great, big, hulking specimen.” The reader is first introduced to Gatsby, and the author describes his as “gorgeous” and connects him to the American Dream and new money. Nick rents a house in West Egg across the bay from East Egg and the reader suggests that the two have a rivalry: “old money” versus “new money.” Gatsby’s mansion represents “new money,” while the clothes Tom wears presents “old money” because they are riding clothes. While leaving dinner, Nick sees Gatsby standing on the lawn for the first time and the reader suggests he is a hopeful dreamer. While on the lawn, Gatsby is reaching out for something across the…
