The Great Game Of Soccer
The Great Game of Soccer It is hard to find a better sport to play than soccer. Soccer is a game that can be played by people of almost any age. There are eleven players needed to play on a team.

It is a relatively inexpensive sport because the only thing needed to play are shin guards, cleats, and a soccer ball. However, if one plays in a league there may be a registration fee. Soccer can be played either indoors or outdoors. There are four different sizes of soccer fields that vary between age groups. Playing soccer is more fun than other sports because of its skill level and fast action.

The first reason to play soccer over other sports is because it is more fun to play. Soccer is a fast-paced and non-stop game; therefore, it is not stopped every few plays like some sports. The game is played for forty-five minute halves and the only time play is stopped is if there is an injury. The goalkeeper is the only one that is able to use their hands when playing soccer; consequently, this makes the game more challenging.

Soccer also allows one to be with their friends. If a team travels, there is an opportunity to meet people on the other teams. Running also makes soccer more fun because one is not waiting for a play to happen. The players keep moving trying to keep possession of the ball.

Another reason to play soccer over other sports is because there are new skills to learn. There are more skills to be mastered in soccer than other sports. The basic skills one will need to master are dribbling, passing, heading, chesting, and trapping. When dribbling keep the ball close to one?s feet, tapping the ball every step; as a result, one should stay in control using both feet. When heading the ball hit the ball just above one?s forehead, either to another player or to one?s feet. When trying to chest the ball, let the ball bounce off one?s chest to their feet. The last skill is trapping. Trapping is stopping the ball when it is kicked with one?s feet, giving in as the ball hits one?s foot. Once these skills are mastered, more difficult skills can be attempted.

Furthermore, playing soccer over other sports will encourage cooperation with other people. Soccer is a team sport and a game cannot be won by just one individual.

Therefore, it will help to develop good sportsmanship; as a result, one person will not try to take all the credit for winning a game or making a big play. Also, cooperating will help to make new friends. If one cooperates well with others, they will probably have a better friendship because they will not always be arguing. Learning to cooperate can also be a valuable job skill. Most jobs involve working with other people so if one knows how to cooperate they will be able to perform better in their work.

In conclusion, playing soccer can be a great activity. Soccer will help improve one?s social skills by providing a way to meet new people. The sport requires a player to run which will improve one?s overall physical health. Soccer can improve eye and foot coordination. Playing requies dribbling and passing with the feet to move the ball across the field to other players. Soccer will also help to improve one?s cooperation with others. Soccer will help one to work as a team to accomplish team goals.

Now that you have an idea of the rules of professional soccer, I will continue to explain the popularity and passion of the game. Soccer is very widely played all over the world. The most prestigious international soccer competition is that of the world cup, held every four years, it lasts about a month, the most recent one being held in South Africa world cup 2010. With more than a billion viewers a day and tuned in to approximately 30 billion times, it is more popular than the Super Bowl, the World Series, the Masters, and the NBA finals. One reason many researchers believe it is so popular, especially in third world countries is because of the lack of things needed in order to play. All you need is a goal and a ball.
