What does the word ‘gospel’ mean?
-Something that is absolutely true
*Derived from the Anglo-Saxon word “godspel”, meaning “good news”.
What is the Gospel?
-Just the story of Jesus….NO!
-It’s His love, mercy, grace, character, Word and His teachings! -The Gospel is still going on TODAY!
So what happened?
John 3:16=> “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” -Jesus is born to Mary and Joseph through the Holy Spirit
Philippians 2:6-8=> God made Jesus in human form
-Why was Jesus in human form?
-Because God can’t just forget about it, He needed it to be done by a human to cover all human sin. -When people heard of Jesus’ birth, they wanted him dead.
The 12 Disciples
Mark 3:13-15=> Jesus appoints the 12
-Why did Jesus need them?
*Jesus traveled from city to city going wherever the Father guided him. He did many miracles and gave messages throughout his travels.
-Turns water into wine (John 2) & gives a blind man sight (John 9:1-7) -Why do you think Jesus did miracles?
-John 2:11=> Gain believers, reveal His Glory
-John 9:1-3=> So God’s work can be displayed -Other reasons Jesus would perform miracles? -Perseverance (James 1:2), growth, trust, confidence, spread the word, ect.
Who are the Pharisee’s and what was their beef:
*Pharisee’s are people who studied bible all their life and have a high position of authority as a spiritual leader. -Jesus heals on the Sabbath
-Jesus calls himself God
-Jesus overturns tables and runs people out of temple courts -Jesus preached in towns
*Jesus knows his destiny and tells his disciples that his time is coming.
