The Fiji Ex-servicemen After-Care Fund (FSACF) plays a vital role in the welfare and livelihood of the Ex-servicemen with the objective of raising the standard of living for its members. The Fund is somehow seen as a family readjustment assisting Veterans in making a successful transition from military to civilian life. The FSACF organisation has rendered various assistances to its recipients which include their monthly allowance, health and education benefits. This study will discuss the importance of the function of the FSACF and highlight the role of the organization, its contribution and benefits to the livelihood of the Ex-servicemen and their dependants First of all, the eligibility criteria for obtaining financial assistance under the Fund are to be at least 55 years of age and the recipient should have embarked on an overseas peace keeping mission per the countries mentioned earlier. Upon completing the Application form and submitting all relevant documents to meet criteria, the application is then submitted to the Committee Members during monthly meet for endorsement. Once the application has been approved, the applicant is eligible to receive monthly allowance together with allowance for spouses, children, widows and their dependants. The After care Fund Allowance has supported the Ex-servicemen and their dependants through the uncertainties of day to day obligation thus help provide their basic necessities daily. It supports them financially and allows them to cater for other financial costs. The Fund improves their health, nutrition and provides better access to education due to increasing purchasing power. The Fund assists the recipients in setting up individual business which helps them generate extra revenue, and also create employment for others with the potential for further growth, thus contributing to community capacity building and economic growth as a whole.
