The Effects of Video Games

Many things can have negative effects on children’s behavior. One effect can be from video games. Focusing on the bad things of video games, they really can influence bad behavior. There are more bad things in video games than good. There are also many great things from video games that can be beneficial to children. Negative things from it could be: addiction, missing out social life, staying up numerous hours at a night, and other things that can cause you to get in trouble if the child tries to imitate the character in the game.

Video games could be good in a way. To me younger kids can get the best out of video games. Leap Frog is a game that educates young kids with learning skills. The games that they sit there to play, is way more beneficial than the games older kids play. Another example of a positive game is Pac Man. Children might not know this, but Pac Man is really an educational game. A puzzle is put into the game, and causes you to use your brain to solve each puzzle to reach the next level.

One game that can cause threatening behavior for children is Grand Theft Auto. The game is the most exclusive game that a child could ever play. The game allows the player to take on the role of a criminal who can roam freely around a big city. Various missions are set for completion, such as bank robberies, assassinations, and other crimes. It shows bad images that can influence a child to go out in society to do the same. The man in the game is an immigrant that comes to the U.S., and tries to receive power. By doing that, he is violating every law to do what it takes to reach his goal. The bad images that that are taken place in the game are also: killing people, prostitution, stealing any and everything, using illegal drugs, and exclusive language. It also shows a bad image of women. Women are not usually used in video games; but when they are, their purpose is usually sex appeal.
