Broadcast Arrogance
The article is all about the woman broadcaster, how she interviewed Secretary Raul Roco in issue for over-collection of fees by public schools. The broadcaster revealed the some school was still collecting fees despite the education secretary’s orders on public school not to collect unnecessary fees.
Secretary Raul Roco gave a comment or answer about it and the broadcaster debate about the issue unprofessionally.
For me, the article shows that being a broadcaster we should know our limitations in having an interview to any people, especially to sensitive issues. The report deserved to be addressed appropriately, even though you’re giving a right report and you’re being fair about the news. You should also respect and give consideration to the extent that the interviewee is a public official.
I won’t blame Secretary Raul Roco if he respond or answer the issue and gave a lot of time, because it shows how he handled issues concerns as a secretary education. For me, I put blame on the broadcaster because being a part of news and public affairs it’s okay to give opinions or ask the interviewee but not being rude or sarcastic, it should be in a right approach that will not the interviewee feel offended, like forcing them to answer an issue that they have yet to get to the bottom.
As a lesson, being a broadcaster, if you handle sensitive or any reports, ask as much as possible necessary questions that will help educate the listeners or audience, not to give opinions that will show disrespect to the particular person concerned about the issue.
