In today’s society, there are several things that go wrong each and every day, but there is one thing that comes up in the news, in courts, and in daily conversations for certain individuals.   That would be the death penalty and whether it is a solution to a problem or whether is an addition to that problem.   Several people view the death penalty as an equal punishment for the crime known as murder.   People say that it is only just to bestow the same action that the individual bestowed on the victim.   My question is, should this be feasible?   Just because one person kills, is it the right thing to put yourself in the same category as the murderer?   For example, if a person kills a family member maliciously, you then turn around and kill the murderer in revenge.   Or, someone kills a family member and you allow the justice system to take the life of the murderer, this also gives both parties the title of murderer.   You have now gained the title that only one person in the situation possessed.   That is truly what it is, but does it make it better or legal or morally excusable just because the murder is committed by the government, or by our courts?   Should the government’s views be our views or should the religious views occupy our opinions?   The bible has a verse in that states in summary, “ A man that kills shall be killed”, but in the same book, it states “Only God should judge”.   People see this as a conflict but the next person might view this as the same.   How do you ask?   Well, That same verse of “A man that kills shall be killed”, this verse never once stated that it will be man that will deliver the punishment of death.   Therefore, how do we know that God himself will now hold his own court and deliver a just punishment on this murderer?   Looking at the statement in this light, it kind of cuts out the contradiction.   Was the bible just misunderstood by those religious radicals?   Only one will know.
Now, let’s look at this through another set of eyes.   There... [continues]
