The Dark Side of a United Europe: Growing Right Parties in Western Europe
The European Union is an economic, political and partial monetary union of 28 member states with a common market. This common market is primarily characterized by the abolition of obstacles in order to guarantee the free movement of people, goods, services and capital. These four freedoms can be considered as the foundations that carry the institution Europe.
This short paper will focus on the free movement of people, which includes the freedom of movement for workers and the freedom of establishment. Since a negative attitude towards this topic has been established in recent years, especially in Western Europe.
Positive Implications of Migration in the European Union
The creation of a common market within the member states has been one of the core objectives of the European Union or rather the European Economic Community (from which the EU origins) and was accomplished in 1993 by the adoption of the Single European Act.
