The Crysalids vs Blade Runner

Blade Runner directed by Ridley Scott and Chrysalids written by John Wyndham both show impacts of technology that cause social conflict.
Social conflict occurs in Blade Runner. Genetic modification has led to Replicants, beings who appear to be human but aren’t. The replicants are supposed to be able to feel no emotion but it turns out they do. The replicants become angry that they live a life of constant fear and almost kill a Blade runner. Another impact the technology of the replicants have is that Deckard falls in love with a replicant. This is a social conflict because the laws state replicants are forbidden and therefore he is not able to freely be in love with Rachael. And lastly there is technology of off world colonies that leave a dark and dirty world behind, the social conflict occurs when people on earth don’t have the means to make it nicer and are not able to move off the earth.
Social Conflict due to technology is also shown in Chrysalids. An example of this is when the Waknuk   people are raided by the fringes people and guns are stolen. The Waknuk people are fearful because they do not know if the fringes people will use them in their next raid. Another conflict arises from the technology of the ships. The people who travel to the bad lands have discovered new information about the old people and when they bring back the new information many people refuse to believe it and get very angry the explores could think such things, also when they bring back spices many people refuse to use them because they feel they may be deviations. Lastly an example of technology that causes conflict is the genetic modification to create the extremely large horses. They caused a lot of uproar because they had be certified but they were not the description of a hoarse.
It can be seen that both Blade Runner and Chrysalids show impacts of technology that cause social conflicts.
