INTRODUCTION In October, 2008 the TBM from Line 4 - Yellow of São Paulo Metro has completed one more crossing to a special structure of the city: the Elevado Presidente Costa e Silva, located on Roosevelt square. This structure was built on 60’s and is part of the main East – West connection way on São Paulo, with a 80,000 daily car traffic. By the importance of this structure the tunneling crossing was exhausted studied and the excavation was taked in a special way principally by the reduced distance (1.0m) between the piles foundations to the tunneling machine, as illustrated in the next figure:

The main object of this paper is to describe the studies carried out by the Consórcio Via Amarela to assure the real location of the foundations, the operation caress taked during the crossing and the settlements results and operation parameters evaluation. LINE 4 – YELLOW AND THE UTILIZED MACHINE The Line 4 – Yellow actually on construction will connect the downtown to the side west integrating 3 more Metro lines and 2 trains lines actually in operation.

The Line 4 – Yellow has 13Km of tunnels, 6Km of them are excavated by an Earth Pressure Balance TBM (Figure 2).
