The Classification of Steel Ball
The Classification of Steel Ball
There are two kinds of steel ball, casting steel ball and forging steel ball. Casting ball manufacturers mix scrap steel, scrap metal and other waste metals in intermediate frequency electric stove for heating so as to fully melting. Right amount precious metal alloy, such as ferrochrome, ferromanganese, vanadium iron are added in melting process. When temperature is above 1550 ℃, powering hot metal to the steel mold or mold steel ball production line. This kind of ball is called casting steel ball or casting grinding ball. 10.0% or higher chromium content, carbon content between 1.80% and 3.20% are called high chrome alloy casting ball. After quenching process, the hardness of high chromium alloyed casting ball must be more than 58 HRC and impact value 3.0 J/cm2, according to national standard and requirement. Forging steel ball manufacturers made steel ball through direct heating and forging way. It doesn't need smelting process. Compared with casting steel ball, chromium content is much lower, between 0.1% 0.5%. Carbon content is below 1.0%. surface hardness of forging steel ball canreach more than 56. Hardening layer is around 15 mm due to poor harden ability and the core hardness is typically more than 30 degrees. The harden ability is difference with the increase of steel ball diameter. Normally forging steel ball often adopts the water quenching treatment. The higher hardness, the better wear resistance and corrosion resistance of steel ball. After quenching and tempering treatment of high chromium balls, the hardness can reach 60 or more. That’s why the wear resistance of casting ball is 2.5 times of that of forging steel ball.

The force applied and the diameter of the diameter of a hardened steel ball is kept constant while four different specimen blocks namely, aluminum, brass, copper and mild steel are penetrated by the indentation steel ball to create different indentations on each of them. The diameters of the indentions allow us to obtain the Brinell Hardness number to predict the hardest and the softest material among them. The experimental data would also allow us to compare the hardness measured with the other published results from other…

Steel is an alloy of iron and carbon. The proportion of carbon to iron varies the hardness of the alloy, the ductility and the tensile strength. Steel can be made stronger than pure iron however is also less ductile. If steel is soft, malleable and ductile it is used for sheet steel, nails and wires. If it is hard and moderately ductile, it is used for railway tracks and axles. If it is very hard with a very low malleability and is brittle, it is often used for axe heads, tools and high-strength wires.…

Powder metallurgy is the process of blending fine powdered materials, pressing them into a desired shape or form (compacting), and then heating the compressed material in a controlled atmosphere to bond the material (sintering). The powder metallurgy process generally consists of four basic steps: (1) powder manufacture, (2) powder blending,(3) compacting, (4) sintering. Compacting is generally performed at room temperature, and the elevated-temperature process of sintering is usually conducted at atmospheric pressure. Optional secondary processing often follows to obtain special properties or enhanced precision.[1]…

In the early years of building engine blocks, grey cast iron was the only material used. The process of using alloys was non-existent and aluminum was a new material which few people were familiar with. At the time, however, grey cast iron worked very well. The carbon, present as flakes of graphite, in grey cast iron gives the material good resistance to wear and also provides good corrosion resistance and lubrication characteristics which gives it exceptional machinability. The Carbon also provides good strength and toughness and has a high melting point which allows it to handle more heat under intense driving conditions. The composition of the grey cast iron is 3.5% carbon, 2.5% silicon and .65% manganese. Cast Iron engine blocks are still very common to this day in larger vehicles such as trucks and SUV’s. The advantage of cast iron is that it is much cheaper and easier to produce than aluminum and it has high tensile and fatigue strength at room and elevated temperatures. The disadvantages of cast iron are its high specific gravity and higher casting and solidification temperatures which causes poor surface quality and poor dimensional accuracy. That is the reason why manufacturers began to experiment with aluminum.…

Grinding media mixing with materials impact and grind materials continuously. The grinding media and materials impact and grind each other when the ball mill rotates continuously. The final product will be discharged from outlet when it meets the request, so the grinding process is finished application range, simple structure and convenient maintenance.…
