When I saw the newspaper article about the Ringling Brother’s Circus coming to town, it immediately brought back memories. Going to the circus with my son for the first time and it becoming an exciting once a year tradition for my son and me. Driving to the circus on that first bright sunny day was so thrilling and exciting. To imagine the wonder of what he might see running through his mind. As we got closer we would see huge red and yellow tents where friendly elephants and fierce tigers were kept. A bright big smile would then appear on my son’s little round face. Upon arrival, finding a parking spot and waiting in the long, narrow lines was a little frustrating. Once you’re finally in, however all the waiting is worth it. You walk in and thousands of bursting people looking like tiny colorful ants, walking in every direction. and coconut flavored syrup of snow cones through out the air. Once the show began, the lights would go dim and everyone’s eyes would grow wide with amazement. For the first performance, huge gray elephants wearing bright, shiny, sequenced drapes, marching out with their trainers. One amazing elephant would kick around a ball and then balance on that same small red ball. Who would of have guessed such a huge elephant could balance itself on a ball so small. The trapeze show included performers wearing multi-colored, skimpy, eye-appealing glittered costumes. Just watching each person swinging, jumping, balancing, stretching ,reaching as far as they could to catch one another as they are flying through the air is exhilarating and heart pounding.
