The children’s television community was overall an interesting piece of reading because it was all dedicated or connected in some approach to children from all ages. From toddler to tweens and teens, the book approached many issues concerning children related to media. Providing plenty of information and numerous examples throughout the book, help me to understand more of what the author’s main purpose was. I agreed with mainly all the issues brought up in the book such as how media and advertisements targets children.
Reading this book was not extremely easy because of the use of higher vocabulary. I believe this book was written for maybe college students in their junior or senior year. Although the vocabulary was at a higher level, the reading still made since to me and I did not get bored with what the author was saying. For other college freshman they may also have some difficulty reading this book for themselves. The sentence structure was pretty much in good standing, the only problem was the higher vocabulary used.   I have learned a lot from reading this book because I never knew that there could be so many studies dedicated to children and the media itself. After reading this book, I look at all of the individual things that go on in society and now have a different view point on them. Such as the toys in the Mc. Donald’s happy kids meals, and how some cartoons have expanded to movies or vice versa. Since taking Media Literacy, I have had new views of media but since the book went further into the issues relating to children, I can now use that knowledge to understand what and why certain companies come about what they do.
