If you could have dinner with any Olympian in history, who would you choose and why?

If I had a choice to have dinner with an Olympian I would choose Arthur Ashe. Arthur Ashe has left a big impact on the tennis community. He showed that through the segregation, he could make it to the US Open, Wimbledon, and the Australian Open and win all three titles. He is also an inspiration to me because he also received a tennis scholarship after coming out of high school. These are the goals I am trying to accomplish in my life and to play tennis in college. Arthur Ashe majored in Business Administration while he was in UCLA. Business administration is the one of the majors I would like to study when I attend college in 2011. One of his quotes in life was, “One important key to success is self-confidence. An important key to self-confidence is preparation.” I say this quote when I’m practicing at tennis when I know I am tired but I want to go that next level to get better at my game. I also say it when I am in a match when it comes down to me playing against a hard competitor to push myself and win my match. In 1963 Arthur Ashe went on to be the first black male to participate in the US Davis Cup team and later on in 1969, he became one of the number one ranked American and one of the best players in the world. He applied to play in the South African Open that year but was denied because of his color of skin. His determination to get better in his game makes me strive to be the best I can be and when I come across difficulties like he did, to stand my grounds and achieve my goals in my life. Arthur Ashe has a big impact on my life because of the obstacles he faced but he still achieved his goals to become one of the best tennis players of all time.
