The Best Decision I Ever Made

Majoring in English in university was the best decision I ever made. First,

I chose what I really want. English was my favorite subject since I was in junior high

school. While I was attending a cram school for English, there was a teacher, Terence,

inspired me to learn English and made a lot of efforts to teach me. He came up with

many interesting and useful ways to learn English. In doing so, I enjoyed his teaching

and started to like English. Besides, as I am fond of learning English, I always take

pleasure in courses of the English Department. For instance, in the course of English

Literature I got joy from reading English prose, poems and plays. I have learned how

to transform my first impressions of literary works into fruitful discussions and

meaningful critical essays. Also, I was so excited about taking the course of English

Phonetics. Every time after the class I felt that my pronunciation and the ability of

listening improved. If I was not an English major, I would not have had the chance to

take these amazing English courses in my life. Last but not least, my English

doesn’t go downhill like some college students’ does. Learning languages shouldn’t

be interrupted. Once, a classmate of senior high school who studies accounting told

me that she even couldn’t remember what she had learned from school

because she didn’t use English after getting into college. As a result, keeping on

studying in English in university is the best decision I ever made. [continues]
