Poisons can cause illnesses if they stay in an individual’s body. Antioxidants can help the immune system minimize toxins. Next, it has been shown through research that the regular use of multivitamins and mineral supplements by the elderly could improve immune function and thus reduce infectious disease. Also, nutritional supplements help people overcome various nutritional deficiencies. Taking nutritional supplements in proper amounts will assist you in maintaining optimum health. Another advantage of nutritional supplements is that they can reduce the cost of health care. Treating patients who have diseases can cost a lot of money for governments. Nutritional supplements are cheaper to use. Moreover, they may prevent health- and diet-related issues.

As with all drugs and medications, nutritional supplements do have side effects. For instance, a person may experience physical symptoms arising from the wrong mixture of vitamins.
