There are a few benefits of using public transportation. Public transportation is safer for all ages, from teenager to senior. In order to benefit the public, most major cities like New York, have a transportation system that operates smoothly and efficiently. Public transportation leads to be safer, affordable, more convenient and good for the environment. Public transportation is very convenient in many ways, good for the environment and good for your health. First of all, public transportation such as trains and buses are safer than the use of a car. In fact, a large number of people are injured in car accidents every year. In addition, many people die by car accidents. On the other hand, public transportation is well operated by a specialized company and government drivers. Drivers or operators are well trained to save customer’s lives. Public transportation continues to be one of the safest modes of travel in the United States. In fact, riding a transit bus is 91 times safer than car travel. Secondly, if you compare the cost of public transportation such as train and bus to the cost of gasoline, you’ll find that a monthly commuting fare is far more economical and affordable compared to the cost of gasoline. Examples of this are that a single ride fair (metrocard) is $2.25. If you buy a 7 day-unlimited the cost is $29, 30-Day Unlimited the cost is $104 or 7-Day express bus the cost is $50. Gasoline price vary depending on the name brand. The cost for Calco is $3.27, Sunoco $3.29, Gulf $3.31, Citgo $3.89, Mobil $3.77, and Shell $3.55. If you calculated each one of them, you can see that you spend more on gasoline depending on what car you have and how many cylinders the car has, and that public transportation is economic and affordable.
