Nearly every American citizen is exposed to the media on a regular basis.   This means that the media plays a huge role in our society and and has an impact on the people.   Whether this impact be positive or negative, the affect that media has on the public is incredible.   According to the A.C. Nielsen Co., the average American spends more than four hours watching TV, three hours listening to music, three hours online, and one and a half hours playing video games each day.   The sum of these hours add up to the media playing a significant role in the average American's life.  
Teenagers watch more movies and listen to more music than any other age group.   Adolescence is a crucial time period.   This is the time when young adults develop morals and beliefs, identify who they really are, and learn how males and females are suppose to act.   This is also the time period when young adults start to lose their connection with their family and try to find out more on their own. They become curious of the world.   The media begins to become a major influence in their lives and soon begin to control their every move.
