AUGUST 2, 2009 ILIAOBA - DAY OF ST. ELIA THE PROPHET
„Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell to- gether in unity!“thanks be to God! That he gave us, to Serbian and to Georgian people opportunity to Glorify the Lord together on the feast day of St. Elia the Prophet!
The prophet Elias, who was taken up alive to Heaven on a fiery chariot, According to the tradition of Holy Church, he will be a Fore Runner of the Terrible Second Coming of Christ upon the earth and during the time of preaching, he will unmask the evil and will endure bodily death for Christ. May he pray for us to the Lord!!!
As you know, our orthodox church is praying for our life. We ask to the Lord for mercy, for grace, for forgiveness of our sins, for good defense at the dread judgment of Christ and many other blessings, but most important place in our prayers has Peace and unity... al- most in all parts of holy services we pray to The God for peace and for unity and God blesses us by the words of priests with peace in unity “Peace be unto all”...
God’s glory seems in our friendship, in our brotherly relations and in our love. And today when we are together, Serbian and Geor- gian Orthodox people, let us ask again to the Lord for our countries well being, Peace and unity... let us ask to the lord for our pain, since Both of our countries share a similar fate...
Also, let us remember God’s suggestions and comfort... “But rath- er seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” So lets not be scared if the earth is taken away, because the heavens is given to us.
Nothing happens without the Lord’s will, and perhaps this peril was bestowed upon us to test our faith and to strengthen our spiritual path. May God will that we shall soon celebrate our countries’ unity, peace and prosperity.
Today is the Saint’s day of His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II Ca- tholicos

There is a difference between helping a family member and living as a carer for a family member. In many cases the carer starts by helping but as the person who you are caring for becomes more dependent on help it changes to caring. Being a carer involves much more than helping but it can also have its own rewards.…

In trying to view the event in the carnal sense, the purpose can become derailed. We have to view this event from the spiritual perspective. This event has not occurred for I know over ten years. This is a message that was relayed that our leader needed us. The message was given clearly and it is our responsibility to be obedient and receive it because it does not occur often. The flesh many times wants to analyze and pick things a part but it is not our task to try to question or figure out why, it is to move and through prayer and fasting make it come to pass. When we start to understand that, it is about ministry and the spiritual aspect and not man and the physical aspect we all are victorious. Of course there will be some will say, ”This is not about the spiritual realm it’s about money and to that I say, the enemy never sends a message that is going to encourage the man of…

Just as the eighth century prophets left their little villages and carried their "thus saith the Lord" far beyond the boundaries of their hometowns; and just as the Apostle Paul left his village of Tarsus and carried the gospel of Jesus Christ to practically every hamlet and city of the Greco-Roman world, I too am compelled to carry the gospel of freedom beyond my particular hometown. Like Paul, I must constantly respond to the Macedonian call for aid.…

“...I will commence this holy day by writing to you. My heart is filled with gratitude to Almighty God for His unspeakable mercies with which He has blessed us in this day, for those He has granted us from the beginning of life, and particularly for those He has vouchsafed us during the past year. What should have become of us without His crowning help and protection? Oh, if our people would only recognise it and cease from vain self-boasting and adulation, how strong would be my belief in final success and happiness to our country! But what a cruel thing is war; to separate and destroy families and friends, and mar the purest joys and happiness God has granted us in this world; to fill our hearts with hatred instead of love for our neighbours,…

The metaphor of song and music turns up here and there, over several millennia, in the terminology of preaching. In the following essay I attempt to show through the metaphor of singing how Hungarian homiletics is related to the so called aesthetical homiletics, which appeared both at the beginning and the end of the 20th century in international theological discourses, the effects of which also reached Hungary, albeit to a limited extent.…

As with all great literary works, more content is often present than first meets the eye. The Book of Mormon is no exception. One such way that the Book of Mormon proves its literary worth is through the use of paradox. In fact, the Book of Mormon uses paradox strategically to help the reader further ponder the meaning of the scriptures in his or her life, and thus discover statements of deeper doctrine.…

Firstly, it seeks to allow the different churches to reflect upon theology in a united way. Secondly, it seeks to provide local initiatives which promote ecumenism on a grass roots level. Thirdly, it seeks to unite the different denominations by providing a platform for different churches to address social justice issues, for example by setting up the House of Welcome to assist refugees. Finally, it recognises that in order to maintain a constant spirit of ecumenism especially through to the next generation, educational initiatives need to be undertaken to advocate…

Integral elements of a society, such as collective identity, values, and institutions are shaped by the people’s consciousness of the past. The past itself is made up of different components, such as myths and narratives. Overtime, the myths and narratives are selectively distorted through telling and retelling. Ultimately, these chosen stories are accepted, becoming embedded in a community as collective memory.…

After a two month siege, we have finally conquered Jerusalem! We have won back our land! Some of us have returned home, but I think I’ll stay. It seems unnecessary to travel such a long distance just to return not soon afterward. This area is so beautiful and rich with culture, I’m certainly glad to be here.
