What do you think is the number one cause of teenage deaths? You probably think it is suicide, or automobile accidents, or homicides, or even heart disease. Well if you had said automobile accidents then, you are correct. Teen automobile accidents occur every minute, every hour, and every day. Teen automobile accidents are a huge problem that everyone has to deal with both physically and emotionally. I believe the best way to put an end to this is by changing the age limit to get a driver’s permit. Teenagers should not be able to get their driver’s permit until the age of 18. The age limit to get a driver’s permit should change because teenagers are inexperienced drivers, and teenagers are easily distracted. The age limit to get a driver’s permit should increase to the age of 18 because teenagers are inexperienced drivers. Teens are less experienced with solving problems and making good decisions. Due to a lack of experience, these teenagers are more prone to accidents, especially on highways and other places with considerably more traffic. The driver should be knowledgeable both with cars and with roads. The driver has to know how to control a car including a good awareness of the car's size and capabilities. Teenagers between the ages of 15-17 are young and do not have enough experience throughout life for them to even drive a vehicle; that is a big responsibility that comes with many consequences. In addition, the age limit to get a driver’s permit should increase to the age of 18 because teenagers are more easily distracted than adults. Driving is a skill that requires your full attention to safely control your vehicle and respond to events happening on the roads around you. Driving involves constant and complex coordination between your mind and body. Those are some skills that teenagers do not have when they are between the ages of 15-17.
