The classroom tools that teachers use today are using interactive white boards, and now it is said that 40% of K-12 grades use them in their classrooms they also go by other names too -- SMART Board, ActivBoard, eBeam, Mimio, Webster -- with slightly different features are available. Portable devices also play a big part too, graphing calculators, laptops, tablets, e-readers, smart phones, and mp3 players, widely available to the general public, are also considered potentially valuable classroom resources by many teachers and the kids in their classes. Hand in hand with portable devices goes is the web-based communications and content they able us to use. The web-based communications not only help teachers and students keep in touch outside the class, but also help kids do their homework together without having to over to each other house if they live far away from each other, or if they go to an online school like we do. Web-based content ables teachers to download teaching materials, lesson plans and activities for the week or year from the internet for their classes to use. They can stream videos, games, and other things to help show their points to their classes. They can even make their own web-sites and use web-cams to give lessons to their online classes. When I become a teacher I would like to teach k-3rd grades and think that a lot of these technologies like the smart-board, tablets, e-readers and mp3 players will be very helpful to me in help my class of kids learn all the things they need in order to grow-up to be great people and go to do great things. I see myself putting all of these thing to good use by making lesson plans and slide shows to help the kids see my point, and I’ll also try my best to enlighten all the kids in all of my classes. In all I see the internet to be the hardest to use in a k-3 grades due to the fact that a lot of things on it are not kid friendly. The things that are missing from the…

With the role of technology rapidly changing the world, we must change with it. During the 21st century our traditional approach to learning has changed forever. The traditional way of learning in a classroom setting has changed also. In the past, teachers have served as the primary source of information for students, but today teachers no longer lecture while students passively take notes, and I believe it’s safe to say those days are gone for good. Today you will find college students placing voice recorders on their desk for the class, instead of sitting in the class themselves. (Kozmar 2000)…

Introduction Information technology (IT) offers tremendous promise for enhancing the academic experience. Educational technologies include not only the Internet, which provides access to university websites directly tied to courses as well as to resources around the world, but also innovations in recording, collaborating, and responding technologies that offer enhanced environments for scholarly interaction and intellectual pursuit. These technologies are valuable when they serve the larger educational goals of the university: to create active learners who not only master the content of their chosen fields, but also develop techniques and modes of critical thought that will enable them to be informed and discerning citizens and contributors to their professions. Most UCLA students are immersed in information technology in their daily lives. They expect that their academic lives will be similarly rich in technology, and that they will leave UCLA as technology-savvy graduates. Both faculty and students are end users of educational technology, and from it they gain vastly improved access to course materials and to one another. But crucially, the technology landscape now includes a rich mixture of new kinds of course materials: discipline-specific multi-media content, simulations, and applications, as well as tools for communication, collaboration, writing, and research. Educational technology holds the promise of creating more interactive classes, engaging students more deeply and more actively in the course content, and contributing to a student’s learning of complex concepts by adapting to the student’s level and progression of understanding. To improve the learning experience significantly and consistently across the undergraduate and graduate curricula, however, UCLA, like comparable institutions, faces many challenges in developing practices, policies, and resources to adapt to ever-changing…
