“If it keeps up, man will atrophy all his limbs but the push-button finger.” is a phrase quoted from the famous Frank Lloyd Wright regarding the escalating rise in technology. Technology has affected us in many various ways, such as affecting our leisure activities. Personally, I feel that technology has affected my leisure activities positively as it has made the facilities for such activities more accessible, made the execution of the activity safer and made it easier to gather people together to carry out the activity.
Over the past years, the rise in technology has resulted in better transport systems in the country. This has allowed people to get to other places in a faster, cheaper and more efficient ways and ensuring that hard-to-reach places are now more accessible. An example of it would be our local SBS and MRT transport systems which is in the process of upgrading itself to ensure that all citizens are able to reach even the most remote places in the country. Now, if I wanted to meet my friends for a game of soccer at a field far away from my house, I would be able to utilize the MRT to get me there quickly. Therefore, this rise in technology has affected my leisure activities in a positive way by allowing me greater accessibility to various locations.
The escalation in technology has also allowed the execution of various leisure activities to be safer and better environments. In the past, due to a lack in advancement in technology, certain facilities such as swimming pools and soccer fields were not possible. However, with the coming of age and technology, improvements have permitted such ideas to become achievable. Nowadays, kids need not swim in lakes or play in fields dotted with rocks and pebbles with would ultimately lead to injuries. People are now provided with better and safer facilities to carry out their activities.
