Technology addiction amongst teenagers is having a disruptive effect on their learning. This research shows that technology obsession hinders spelling skills, implicitly encourages plagiarism, and disrupts classroom learning. Despite school policies restricting mobile phone usage, students use the phone frequently, with the majority making calls from the toilets. The mobile phone continues to be a prime channel of social communication during the school day. The study also examined how different technologies were used in an education context. The study found that the qualities of written English of 39.3% of teenagers were affected by text shortcuts. Access to technologies occurs at an early age with the emerging sequence being access to a computer before the age of eight, use of the internet between the ages of five and ten, use of a mobile phone between the ages of eight and ten and access to a social network between the ages of eleven and thirteen. Students spend 2 or more than hours a day in social networking cites. This study aims to let young persons or teenagers know the advantages and disadvantages of being addicted to their technologies like phones and computers, to show how high the proportion of teenagers addicted to their gadgets through surveys is. Lastly, to cite ways on how to prevent this addiction to technology amongst teenagers. This study tells the youth that they can use their cellphone more than 100 times per week. Technology is becoming an addiction. Today’s youth crave instant satisfaction, and desires are met by broadband Internet and text messaging. The society is no longer had time or the need to have a good old sit down and a chin wag. The people can communicate via intricate networks and satellites. It’s basically saying that the youth are not communicating like we use too now we can get on Skype. We don’t go out anymore and spend with each other.
