Abstract

As organizations are becoming more diverse, the need of effective and goal oriented work force is rising. The keys to an organization’s success is that their leaders and managers understand the meaning of group dynamics, group cohesiveness, and managing multicultural groups and how the theories apply to ensure the success of the organization and its groups. Evaluating group structure, building trust through strong leadership, and effectively communicating will enhance the organizations productivity and success. We all know cultural diversity has become widespread within many organizations today. The work groups in these organizations are increasingly being staffed by culturally diverse employees. The cultural differences exhibited in the groups can enhance or weaken the function of the work group, especially in a predominantly homogenous environment. The biggest obstacle with group dynamics,

The two assigned pieces from the books of Dr. Taylor Cox Jr., "Cultural Diversity in Organizations," written in 1993, and "Creating the Multicultural Organization: A Strategy for Capturing the Power of Diversity", written in 2001, gives insight into what organizations can do to successfully manage their diverse workforce and environment.     This report presents the results of a comprehensive review of the positive impacts that diversity training can have on an organization as a whole as well as the individual employee. As the United States minority populations percentages increase the number of ethnic minorities will mirror the increase in minorities in the workforce. Due to this ethic shift in the US population, diversity training will remain as a pressing topic. Senior level executives must embrace this change and continue to create a positive environment that is conducive to all employees regardless of their fundamental cultural differences. Moreover, businesses must learn to embrace and manage diversity if they want to continue to be successful.
