EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Gladchris team was a self-managing team with 7 members who were all full time workers. It had a rich diversity in terms of age, religion, work experience, values, personally, beliefs etc. The purpose of this report was to analysis the factors that contributed to the effective performance of Gladchris team in carrying out the team’ assignment. The factors were analysed using management theories and concepts such as planning, team development, communication, decision making, controlling, conflict management and motivation.

In the carrying the assignment the team confronted issues such as some of the team members not present during the team’s initial meetings which affected their ability to fully understand the team’s goal and objectives, members attached emotions when expressing their opinions, conflict of ideas degenerating disagreement among members, lack of commitment on the part of some members at a certain times, etc.

However, despite these challenges the team was effective in carrying the assignment because of the following factors:

• effective planning of the team’s activity with the drawing of activity plan which served as a road map for carrying out activities;

• effective management of team development processes as the team was going through one transition to another;

• collective decision making incorporating members’ input,

• the use of multiple communication method within the team (e.g., e-mail, mobile phones, text massages, etc,.)

• good leadership and effective controlling of activities to avoid deviation from the team’s goal;

• proper management of team conflict; and

• motivation and team spirit exhibited by members apply in real world situation what we have in the class and to past and get good grade.

These factors contributed immensely to the team’s successs.

Conclusion

The issues that confronted the team were the usual challenges associated with a self-managing team like Gladchris. But the team was team was productive, we were satisfied with the team spirit that members exhibited; and every stage of the team’s life was a learning experience for me. The team dynamics was unique and had positive impact on the team performance as it was able to carry out the assignment within the stipulated time and submitted the final report on the exact...
