Q1:Describe how you might contribute to a lesson given to a group of seven year old children learning to play percussion instruments. A:My role as a teaching assistant would be to contribute to this lesson by perparing and organising the learning environment with keeping in mind the safety, security and comfort of the child, an environment where there is maximum learning and minimum disruption. As a teachin assistant the first and the most important task would be to support and actively involve myself with the teacher in planning the lesson, checking the instruments that are to be used for the lesson, whether they are in working order or not and whether I am myself confidant enough to use them and where ever possible be able to give the children a brief description or history of the instrument .I would also check whether the classrooom is safe for th lesson and that there are enough instruments for the use or a possibality might arise where the children would have to be put in groups.I would also check with the teacher if at all there are some written instructionsto be give to the children before the lesson starts, also keep in mind to safely store the instruments at a suitable and safe place so that when the lesson starts its easily accessable. During the lesson I would try to encourage and help the children to use the instruments appropiately and safely ,see if any child is struggling ,I would also try to moniter their behaviour so that there is less disruption and more learning ,involve every child in the lesson ,repeat the instructions given by the teacher as children do tend to forget. When the lesson is finished make sure that all the instruments are returned and that there are no dasmages and if any would report it and where ever possible try to fix it.I would also try to give my feedback to the teacher where ever needed.
