Describe how you might contribute to a lesson given to a group of 7 year old children learning to play percussion instruments.

As a teaching Assistant, I will initially like to confer with the teacher to establish how the percussion session is to be carried out; what ideally is to be achieved; and the part I should play in implementing this.

Once the lesson has started, I will be available to help and encourage children with particular instruments, perhaps by demonstrating with my own too. If a child is having difficulty, or not getting involved, I will try and motivate them or get them to try another instrument.   Failing this, I will try to get them involved by tapping out the rhythm of the music with their feet, or by clapping their hands.
Once the session has ended, I will pack away the instruments, ensuring that they are clean.   Any broken instruments I will set aside to be mended or replaced.
I will make any observations, either to be written and recorded confidentially, or alternatively verbally to the teacher once the session has concluded.

What might your role be in organising, using and maintaining the learning resources, materials and equipment for this percussion lesson?

Initially I will establish how many children will be in the class in order to prepare the correct number of instruments and materials.   I will also like to prepare instruments with enough variety with different percussion noises, such as some that can be struck e.g. drums, claves, some that...
