Task 1
      1.1 The current legislation for safeguarding the welfare of children and young people is working with the children, young people and their family’s to ensure the risk of harm is minimized which might include sexual, physical or emotional abuse or even neglect.
        There are a lot of legislations in place which mostly all of them cover the same thing safeguarding the welfare of children and young people, many laws have come into place to strengthen the ways that children are protected.
        There is more than just a couple of acts in place the education act 2002 is one of them which requires school governing bodies, local education and further education institutions to make arrangements to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, adoption and children’s act 2002 which amends the children act 1989 with the definition of harm which now includes a child witnessing domestic violence.
There is also two main categories covering the legislation of child protection, civil law and criminal law, criminal law deals with people who have committed   or who are at risk of committing an offence against children and then there’s civil law which is made up of two parts public and private law, public law is to do with actions involving public bodies like local councils and government it also includes things like human rights, public law puts systems and processes in place in order to minimize the risk of children coming to any harm and shows what actions to take if the children are at risk.
Private law deals with individuals relationships with each other such as divorce and contact.
There’s NSPCC aswell which is the only charity in the UK which has been granted statutory powers under the children act 1989 so it can apply for care and supervision orders for children at risk they offer family support aswell as services such as working with family’s with alcohol... [continues]
