TATTOOING IS AN ART FORM VS TATTOING IS A GIFT

Being a tattoo artist takes lots of hard work, and most people do not understand all the all the hard work, what it takes to become a tattoo artist, and the skills that are required. Being a tattoo artist is not as easy as you may think; many people do not realize what all it takes to become a tattoo artist. To become a tattoo artist there are certain test an classes some states require to be licensed tattoo artist. There are schools you can attend, but classes that one must take will cover infection control, 400 tattoos on pigskin, you then submit the 400 pieces of pigskin to the county health department who then decides from looking at them weather you know how to tattoo or not. You could also go the other route witch would be to find a licensed tattoo artist to train you this could take anywhere from 3 to 5 years.

It’s not as easy as you thought huh? Well that’s not all, Every tattoo artist must do an apprenticeship at a shop before they will be allowed to tattoo. When doing your apprenticeship you do many things in the shop. During this time is where you get familiar with the shop learning were they store everything, how to work an clean the different instruments, running errands for the shop owner, and most of all it’s a time with u practice you tracing skills drawing up tattoos. This may seem pointless to others but in all it helps out a lot because when going to work for a new shop you don’t know how things are run or how they might clean certain things which is important, but most of all your apprenticeship is so you can get comfortable, so the owner another tattoo artist can get to know you so they can figure out if your fit for the shop or not, and to get you extra practice in before you start tattooing.
