Imagine a week before the fourth of July, you were walking downtown a big city and the first thing that hit you is the aroma in the air. The air is fulfilled with that good old Northern coking it smells so good that it makes you want to eat the air. Then you look down the streets and see booth set up with different color umbrellas that’s set up on the sidewalk and an estimate of about seventy-five thousands people ahead of you. What is the first thing that comes to your head???
Today I’m going to talk o you all about “The Taste of Chicago”. Around 1980 a group of owners of several different restaurants had approach the mayor of Chicago, and had suggested the idea of a food festival on the fourth of July. That was then taste of Chicago was born (Surkiewicz 48). With a budget of 150,000 thousand dollars and the confidents they had. When it was time for the event to come around it had attracted about 250,000 thousand people and the sale grossed approximately $330,000.Durning that time is was held in a three-blocked area of Michigan Avenue it’s the boarder by the Chicago River. But as the year’s passed statics say this event attracted little bit over 3million people each year (Walter. Par.3). Due to the overwhelming response of “The Taste of Chicago” they had move the event to The Grand Park in 1981(Walter. Par.3) so they could accommodate more space for the people. In 1989, Mayor Richard M. Daley’s first year in office, the focus of the theme was supposed to have been a family theme but it had became “America’s City Picnic.
“Taste of Chicago” is a ten day food festival. More than half of the vendor participated...
