First, there is no mechanism or law to reinforce the use of reusable bags. For example, local governments seem reluctant to develop policy that will discourage the use of plastic bags. In order to reduce the impact of plastic bags, local governments must take some measure that will discourage the use of plastic bags. For example, in Singapore, Shoppers needing a plastic bag are encouraged to donate 10 cents towards the Singapore Environment Council to help finance its environmental activities. Shoppers are also encouraged to decline bags when making small purchases ( Civil Service College, 2014). Second, most supermarkets still provide plastic bags at no cost. Third, there is a lack of public awareness on the impact of plastic bags on the environment. As most of the participants noted during the our campaign. In July of 2001, Lazlo Sved and his new partner, Emilio Figer, were going over the market research one more time. The two senior executives at Embalagens Ad-lider, SA (Ad-lider Packaging, Inc.) were carefully considering how the findings of the marketing research they had commissioned would impact the launch of their new drawstring trash bag product line named Climp Fecha Facil (Easy Close). See Appendix 5 for a picture of the product. They were looking for information about consumer preferences, consumer habits, and perceived competitive advantages that would impact pricing, product size, and distribution decisions. Having invested one million dollars for the new production machine, the two executives were anxious to “get it right” with respect to targeting and positioning, and creating value for the consumer. Lazlo was convinced that a successful launch of the Fecha Facil was of extreme importance. He believed that the current Ad-lider product mix would not bring satisfactory profits in the long term. He felt that Ad-lider needed to launch a new product that was different, modern, and offered the market a more favorable cost/benefit relationship than products currently on the market.…

The passages present a debate about arguments concerning whether or not reusable bags should be put into mandatory use. This is an important debate because of the potential impact that it will have on both the environment and small business owners. The two positions argue whether or not stores should be made to use reusable bags. Both viewpoints have valid claims warranting consideration. For example, evidence suggests that reusable bags will be too expensive for small shop owners to afford. In contrast, opposing evidence suggests reusable bags are very inexpensive, costing only a dollar or two. While both sides of the issue have valid points, the viewpoint that reusable bags should be in put into mandatory use is the best-supported position, the position supported by the preponderance of the evidence cited in the passages. The strongest and best reasons supporting the argument that reusable bags should be put into mandatory use are that they save landfill space and wildlife, save trees, and are cheap to buy. Accordingly, these reasons and opposing viewpoints will be discussed next.…
