Ud over at skrive romaner skrev Hans Kirk også mange noveller.

Friday March 11, 1692, during the day the community's minister, the Rev. Samuel Parris asked the girls to reveal another witch. They did, and what they said shocked everyone who heard it for it was Martha Corey a new but upstanding member of the congregation. However, she had never shown support for the witch trials, since she did not believe witches existed. Immediately they sent out to the Corey farm to interview the accused in the hope of clearing up this discrepancy. When she was asked, Martha Corey had a sarcastic response to what the girls said. This sarcastic remark disheartened the delegation who immediately called for her arrest. Her trial was the scene of much tension. In the courtroom Martha's accusers screamed in agony as they were forced by an unseen power to mimic the witch's (Martha Corey) every movement. What ever Martha Corey did the girls did also. When Martha moved her feet the girls did also, when Martha bit her lip the girls were compelled to bit their own lips, crying out in pain. This was enough evdience to persuade the jury of her guilt. She denied all that was charged upon her, and said they could not prove her a witch. She was that afternoon committed to Salem prison. She was hanged on September 22, 1692.…

Dreams play a major role in deciphering subconscious psychological issues, such as fears, desires, and anxieties in Annie John. Dreams "have been interpreted as expressions of infantile desires or considered elaborations of the problems of waking hours". In Jamaica Kincaid’s Annie John, Annie’s dreams become a significant element in the way she views herself and the world around her. Annie comments about her dreams: "I had been taught by my mother to take my dreams seriously. My dreams were not unreal representations of something real; my dreams were a part of, and the same as, my real life" (Kincaid 89). Annie realizes that her dreams indicate the issues of her separation anxiety, reveal her conflicting desire to break away from her mother, and reflect her growth and development.…

Marie Antoinette was just a young noble girl when she was promised to the future king of France Louis XVI. Then at fifteen, she was married and then at nineteen she was crowned queen of France. She was used to a very lavish life style in Austria so when she came to France she expected the same. She was a huge partier and spender; many people believe that she is one of the causes of the French revolution because of those reasons. She was extremely self-fish and although it has never been proven true, her statement “Let them eat cake” people believed it for so long because she of she conceded ways. However, she could have been a victim of slander because the people of France did not like the foreign-born queen, so was the French Revolution very because of Marie Antoinette?…

In the early hours of August 31, 1997 a princess hurries into her car and is whisked away so as to escape the paparazzi's eye. The car sped through the streets of Paris tailed by the paparazzi. In attempt to lose those in pursuit the driver sped up and lost control of the vehicle traveling 30-50 mph over the speed limit in the Place de l'Alma underpass. The black Mercedes wrapped around a column, flipped a few times and then landed in the middle of the road. Two of the four died on impact, one received major injuries but lived, the princess, however, died four hours later from cardiac arrest due her heart moving from the left to the right side of her body upon impact. Grief filled the country and most of the modern world, thousands of bouquets of flowers were piled up at her families residence. An estimated 2.5 billion people around the world tuned in to the broadcast of her funeral, over a million people lined the streets in silence. Princess Diana was the “People’s Princess,” and her death was the first public event that I remember and had impact on my family.…

Judith Sargent Murray, despite of being born into a wealthy family on March 01, 1751 in Gloucester, Massachusetts, did not receive many opportunities for a formal education beyond reading and writing. Murray became an early American advocate for women’s rights, an essayist, playwright, poet, and letter writer. Murray held many ideas about women’s education that were extremely radical, she felt that the everyday chores of a women’s live did not offer any intellectual stimulation, and she questions the extent of the American revolution: how it would achieve its promise of human equality.1…

Garden of Eden
