System of Inquiry: Target Corporation
The system of inquiry I have developed for the Target Corporation will be derived from the Code of Conduct that serves as the ethical standards and expectations for team members and leaders employed for the Target Corporation. This inquiries’ framework, answers several questions pertaining to; why, when, for whom, and how it will be used and implemented. The Target Corporation has a responsibility to provide guidance to its team members on how to carry out each individual’s job responsibilities, and core roles. This will ensure the highest degree of responsible organizational behavior in business ethics.
The Code of Conduct for the Target Corporation serves as a document that clarifies the responsibilities of a team member and leader, of the organization that are considered acceptable by the organization. The Code of Conduct can be defined as “a set of unwritten rules according to which people in a particular group, class, or situation are supposed to behave.”(Target Corporation [Target], 2005, p. 23). Team members, who follow the standards in the code of ethics, enable themselves for growth, prosperity and future success while employed for the Target Corporation. The Code of Conduct is used to guide and evaluate a team member’s decision making, problem solving, and their behavior within the business setting. In order to make sound ethical decisions within the organization, there are practiced methods discussed in the Code of Conduct for examining the ethical aspects of a decision and measuring the consequences that may affect the decision for a course of action.
