1. INTRODUCTION
In this essay, the author will analyze the strength, limitations of alternative tourism and how it plays an vital part in the evolution of sustainable tourism and how it only portrays a incomplete solution to the provocation of the term ‘sustainable tourism’ and how does values and ethics fits into the whole notion of ‘sustainable tourism’. Secondly, this essay also aims to discuss the necessitation for sustainability in conventional mass tourism and how sustainability can be achievable in mass tourism and lastly, the strengths and limitations that enthralls alternative tourism. The essay will discuss concepts such as “sustainable tourism” and “sustainable development”, “ethics and values”; “alternative tourism” and finally, “mass tourism”. This report is written with a focal point on the hypothesis that alternative tourism can a partial solution of sustainable tourism but isn’t the answer to the challenge of being sustainable.
