This years Superbowl commercial I picked was the Mountain dew puppy monkey baby because it was catchy and kind of weird and that's why I remember it. In the beginning of the commercial it starts off with three guys who are sitting on a couch and want to go out. Until one of the guys say " I think I just want to chill tonight" and that is when a weird looking monkey comes out and keeps saying " Puppy monkey baby."…

The center seems misplaced in the city of Missoula, with the hundred acres of pastures, fields, and livestock. Wildeboer is most interested in agriculture, he has a background with ten years in 4H and he decided to join Future Farmers of America as the next step in his career. Kiersten Separ who’s known Wildeboer since third grade stated, “ He’s wholeheartedly, passionate, and dedicated to 4H,” he’s always involved with traveling and leadership opportunities that 4H provides, “[Wildeboer] is a State Ambassador, but he also has a lot of small level impacts in the organization.” He also attends the Agriculture Education class at Bigsky High school. According to the USDA 41% of Americans were involved in agriculture in 1900. Today, “less than two percent of Americans are farmers,” says Wildeboer, he hopes to make an impact on an agriculture level within the community. Agriculture education has taught him more real world experiences than in any classroom due to traveling and hands on community…

Hegemonic masculinity is defined as the condition in which men are dominant and privileged, and this dominance and privilege is invisible. This means that men are in the dominant social position and women are in the subordinate social position. A good example of hegemonic masculinity would be found in Super Bowl Commercials. The article “Hegemonic Masculinity in Super Bowl Commercials” by David Mayeda analyzes the impact hegemonic masculinity has on society. According to Mayeda “football is a sport event, in which only men are allowed to participate, where violent collisions are celebrated, and where most of the audience is male. The article discusses how hegemonic masculinity was first developed by theorist Raewyn Connell. Connell used the…

Unlike the “Like a Girl” commercial, Super bowl commercials reflect the sexuality of women. Super Bowl commercials can be described as the funniest, and most entertaining commercials of the year. However when looking into them they poke fun of women’s sexuality in various ways. The Doritos Super Bowl commercial presents the idea that the only way to get a man to pay attention to you is to offer your body as a prize (Doritos Super Bowl). The whole concept is that a Super Bowl commercial emphasizes the idea in which is supposed to be funny. This further questions medias purpose in society. Media is forcing the knowledge on society that women are used as props to draw viewer’s attention to the screen. It emphasizes that Women are just toys to play with when they are there, but if they were not there it would not be a problem.…

Over the past two centuries, the common denominators of this change have always been driven by the needs of the local people, population growth and expansion. Rapidly population growth and density are caused by industry and people rushing to the major cities, thus causing land to become scarcer and more valuable, often driving up land speculation and causing local government boundaries and responsibilities to be blurred (L.G.C, pg. 70). Meanwhile, the rest of the rural country is experiencing slow growth rates, weak economic baselines and decreasing populations in an underdeveloped municipal government system (L.G.C, pg. 141).…

The advertisement, Super Bowl 2015: Snickers Ad, gives a logical appeal by making the audience act irrational when hungry. The only cure for this hunger is the Snickers bar, of course. The logos, throughout this 30 second commercial, portrays an unlikely image of Marcia, from the Brady Bunch, when she is not satisfied; however, the logical appeal is lost as the post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy comes into play. Post hoc ergo propter hoc relies on the audience believing that you become a certain way because of a previous experience. This fallacy is basically a cause and effect situation. In the advertisement, Marcia is played by a rough and rugged man who is complaining to his parents about how he will not be able to go to the dance because…

The screen fades up to an image of a soldier being greeted by his wife in an airport. “On Jan 8th, Lt. Chuck Nadd came home” is printed across the screen. Soon after, it cuts to a clip of the couple driving home in a red Ford Explorer with the caption “we gave him a homecoming he’d never forget” in white. It is unclear at this point, however, who “we” is referring to. The camera cuts to signs that reads “We love Chuck”, “We’re glad you’re home”, and “We’re proud of you” with a soft song featuring a woman’s voice plays in the background. The soldier is visibly overcome with joy. Following his warm welcome home, a parade takes place for the soldier. Him and his wife ride in a horse drawn carriage while hundreds of members of the community wave and cheer. The camera focuses on one woman in particular, jumping up and down and waving with one hand, while holding an American flag in the other. The soldier runs up to and embraces her, and the viewer can infer that she is his mother. “Every soldier deserves a hero’s’ welcome” then appears on the screen, and dissolves to Budweiser’s slogan with “#Salute a Hero” displayed underneath it.…

The local food movement contributes to a global industry, with much of local food sales taking place in the United States. In a study that was performed in 2008 detailing local food numbers in the U.S., sales “were estimated to have grown from $4 billion in 2002 to $5 billion in 2007 and were projected to reach $11 billion by 2011” (Ikerd 50) To add to the growth in local food sales in the U.S., 2007 Census of Agriculture data determined an increase in small farms, which is the first sign of growth in decades. Between the period of 2002 and 2007, the U.S. saw an increase of 14,631 small farms. (Starr 479)…
