1.0 INTRODUCTION
Apple Incorporation, the American multinational corporation that designs and manufactures consumer electronics and computer software products in relation to our topic which is Reactiveness and Adaptability of Apple Incorporation in our society. Here is a brief introduction of how Apple Inc. has grown to these days. It was founded in Cupertino, California on April 1, 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steven Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. In the beginning, which is precisely from January 3, 1977 Apple Inc. was known as Apple Computer Incorporation for the primary 30 years. Then due to the company’s expansion in progress whereby they started to look into consumer electronics markets in addition to its initial focus on personal computers, the word “Computer” was dropped. Now, Apple Inc. has grown to as much as around 35,000 employees worldwide and had worldwide annual sales of US$32.48 billion by the end of September 29, 2008. Without doubt of its comprehensive artistic design to its various advertising campaigns, it has become one of the most approved of company in the United States in 2008 and in the world in 2009 according to the Fortune Magazine. The most popular products of Apple Inc. includes Macintosh computers, the iPod and iPhone meanwhile their most popular operating system recognised is the well-known Mac OS X operating system, the iTunes media browser, the iLife suite of multimedia and creativity software, the iWork suite of productivity software, Final Cut studio which is a suite of professional audio and film-industry software products, and Logic studio, a suite of audio tools. Amazingly, Apple Inc. controls more than 250 retail stores in nine countries and not forgetting an online store where hardware and software products are sold. The very first product introduced by Apple was the Apple I. Apple I was a personal computer kit. Next in line was the Apple II followed by the Apple III which failed to compete with IBM and Microsoft in the business and corporate computing market. This made Jobs convinced that future computer must operate based on graphical user interface. Adapting the Xerox Alto as their inspiration Jobs and his team started working on Lisa. However, Jobs was pushed out of the Lisa time. Subsequently, Jobs resigned from Apple in 1984 due to a power struggle with the board of directors. Jobs went on to start NeXT. Apple’s next big product was released on 1984 which was the Macintosh. Macintosh without a doubt was one of Apple’s very successful products. Following the success of the Macintosh, in 1989 Macintosh portable was introduced. On August 15, 1998, Apple introduced a new all-in-one computer reminiscent the iMac. Through this period, Apple purchased several companies to create a portfolio of professional and consumer-oriented digital production software. On October 23 of the same year, Apple announced the iPod portable digital audio player, and started selling it on November 10. The product was phenomenally successful. Over 100 million units were sold within six years. Apple’s most recent hardware, which is the laptop is the MacBook Air which is an ultra-thin and ultra-portable notebook introduced in January 2008, the iPod Touch which is a portable media player where the 32GB and 64GB Gen3 models which has an amazing feature of faster processor with voice control and an external microphone.
