Summary of Tupac

Tupac
Before this class I was very uncultured in terms of music, I had only really listened to a few artists regularly, and it was the same styles that I liked and knew I liked. I did not venture out from the music that me and my friends had liked. I listened to mostly Michael Buble, country and popular pop. I did not listen to a lot of rap when we started to talk about Tupac, I knew that I was not going to be very knowledgeable and needed to learn a little. We talked a little about an overview of tupac in small groups but I wanted to know more, to become more familiar with someone that was obviously one of the most influential people in all of music for a long time.

He was born on June 16, 1971 in Brooklyn, New York, and even though I heard this in class I did not think about crucial it was for him to grow up there, he needed to be on the streets and he needed to battle to get everything he wanted and needed or he would have never learned how important it was to know where you came from. If he had been born in the South he would have been treated poorly for being an African American but he would not have seen what he saw on the streets of Brooklyn. He was born Tupac Shakur and moved to California where he became an established a dancer and rapper. There he grew a huge fan base with releases such as “Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z. and Me Against the World.” This was obviously crucial and was an obvious key to his future success. He also worked as a movie actor in releases like Juice and Poetic Justice. Though he worked on multiple projects through his life and could talk forever about everything he did, but to get an overview of his work I feel like it was important to note he did acting and some music work before we became the rapper everyone knows and loves. He was killed by a drive-by shooting while he was with “Suge Knight.” While writing this I made a note to listen to his music which I had never heard much of before, I do like what I have heard so far....
