Definition
What an obvious question! Just what is leadership? But it is a necessary one. If you want to be a leader you first have to have your own favorite answer, or definition of leadership.

My favorite answer is the leadership is much more than title and position, telling others what to do, or having authority and power. Leadership is about having purpose, both as an individual and group, and intentionally making a positive difference. Leadership can only occur when each of the following components are fully functioning together.

What is Leadership Model adapted from Shankman, M. L. & Allen, S. J. Emotionally Intelligent Leadership?

Leadership is a concept, an important factor determining the success of the organization. The leaders connect individuals in an organization. Develop and lead the team to achieve common goals. Guide individuals working for them to convey passion, inspire and promote the ability of the individual, they gathered together to create greater strength. The leader should have the knowledge, leadership skills, passion for work and a keen mind. From there, identify the looks and make optimal plans for the organization.
Trait and behavior theories
Trait theories and behavioral theories of leadership are two of the main historical theories developed in the quest to define what good leadership is. The earliest of modern theories was the trait theory of leadership which sought to look beyond the idea of leaders simply as exceptional individuals by characterizing the general qualities exhibited by successful leaders.
Trait theory
According to trait theory, specific traits and characteristics were believed to be associated with an individual's ability to lead. Lists of leadership traits including physical and intellectual characteristics, personality traits, behaviors and skills, showing below:
