Tata Consultancy Services Limited (TCS) is an Indian multinational information technology (IT) service giant, business solutions and consulting company with its headquarters in Mumbai, India. It was established in 1968 as a division of Tata Sons Limited. TCS Ltd. was incorporated as a separate entity on January 19, 1995. It is an IT services, consulting and business solutions organization.

TCS was incorporated on January 19, 1995. Post a hugely successful IPO in July of 2004, it was listed on the NSE Nifty and BSE Sensex on August 25, 2004.

TCS employs over 276,000 people around the world in 44 countries.

Geographically, TCS operates in all the five continents across the globe, with North America and Europe constituting the largest markets for its services. TCS earns a fifth of its revenues from emerging markets such as India, Latin America, Asia-Pacific and Middle-East & Africa.

Major Milestones






In 2011, TCS entered the small and medium enterprises market with cloud-based offerings. In the same year, TCS overtook Reliance Industries Ltd. to achieve the highest market capitalization of any Indian company.

TCS became the first Indian IT player to enter the Bioinformatics Market. In the 2011-12 financial year TCS achieved annual revenues of over $10 billion for the first time.
Won the Business Standards ‘Company of the Year’ award in 2012. At the World HRD Congress' annual meet in 2012, TCS won 'Recruiting and Staffing Industry Leader of the Year' and ‘Best Employer Brand’ awards.

TCS Business Heads
Currently TCS is headed by Natarajan Chandrasekeran ‘Chandra’ who is the CEO and MD of the company. During his tenure since 2009 the company has grown by 21%. He effectively contributed in strategic new business initiatives at TCS and has displayed the ability to nurture new ideas. The company has added new business lines and entered new industry verticals like Media & Information Services and Mobile & Digital services under him.

Rajesh Gopinathan is the Chief Financial Officer and Vice President, he joined TCS from Tata Industries and worked to drive TCS’ newly established e-business unit in the U.S. He was involved in the designing, structuring and implementation of the new organizational structure and operating model of the company. Ajoyendra Mukherjee is the Executive Vice President and Global Head - Human Resources of TCS. He joined TCS on July 7, 1980 and has an experience of over 23 years with the company. As TCS scales up beyond 277,586 professionals, he has played a key role to ensure that the global human resources function is able to continuously respond to the challenges and opportunities of a dynamic industry.
