INTRODUCTION
The Singapore HR Congress & Business Connect Exposition 2008 was organised from the 5th to 7th May 08. Guest Of Honour was Mr Lee Yi Shyan (Minister of state, Ministry of Trade and Industry).
AIM
The paper is structured as a personal reflection on the conduct of the Exposition and the personal “take aways” as a student.

1. Conduct and Organisation of the Exposition
The Exposition was conducted on a first come first served basis as registration is required prior to the attendance of the Session itself. This had allowed the participants to exercise the freedom to choose whatever topics that was of interest to them.
2. Personal “Take Aways”
First Topic that I encountered was the “Accelerating The Performance of Your Future Leaders” by Professor Sattar Bawany
To sum up, the lecturer had introduced the fact that it is a current reality that the market is facing a “leader” deficit, which was due to factors such as inadequate succession planning, inability to recognise potential leaders early, etc…
He also presented the differences between high performance and high potential, with a tri-circle model with “can do”, “will do” and “How fit” as to define the level of success of a leader.
After which, he introduced the four components that can lead to accelerated performance, namely ; Awareness ( Self awareness coupled with 360 Feedback), Analysis (Ability to link development needs to assignment needs, identify opportunities to expand professional relationships, ability to focus on high risk of overused strengths, Ability to integrate and Review Board Insight), Action ( focusing on business and developmental objectives, with Coach , Mentor, Manager, HR Leader, ability to expand his professional network) , Achievement (Coaching in...
