STUDENT SURVIVAL GUIDE

Taking distance learning classes is a new challenge for me because I have always attended college the traditional, face-to-face way. Even though I am able to ask for help from my instructors, it still isn't the same as taking a paper to the instructor and seeing his or her reaction towards it. The way for me to succeed in my distance learning classes is for me to develop a student survival guide using axia's educational resources, upholding academic honesty, setting and achieving goals, managing my time wisely, fostering reading comprehension and retention, and applying personality and learning styles.

Using Axia's Educational Resources
My family and I love to travel or just go out a lot. By downloading files for use on my portable device, this will give me a chance to do my class work from any location, whether I am in town or out. The Universal Library is definitely a big part of my survival in college because it is the main source used when gathering information for researches when writing papers or working on projects. Identifying key info within articles is necessary because that info gives a summary of what the article is about. By just using the key information in an article, I should be able to write my own summary of what the article was explaining.

Upholding Academic Honesty
Honesty, for me, starts at home. I was taught at a very young age that being honest is the only way to be. As far as academic honesty goes, I just put myself in other people's shoes. I tell myself that I wouldn't want anyone taking credit for any of my work because I put my "sweat and tears" into my work and I think that the next person should do the same. Plagiarism will not be part of my plans to survive in any college or on any job. I will avoid it at all cost.
