The most important element of being successful is being organized. If you want to succeed in life, you have to have a plan. A plan can also be translated into a guide which can be followed. Think of it as a road map or compass which will lead you to the final destination of your diploma. In order for the map to work you must use it!

USING AXIA'S EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES

Download course materials from your student website to a folder labeled Axia College, and place it on your desktop. Within the folder create additional folders:

Academic Counselor
Financial Counselor
COM/140
GEN/105
Instructor Feedback
Final Projects
Within the class folders place folders for Weeks 1-9.
*Remember to backup work.
Use the your student website to access the University Library, the Center for Writing Excellence, Center for Mathematics Excellence and the Learning Team Toolkit. The Library has numerous databases for research and peer reviewed articles. The Math and Writing Centers were created to help students improve skills. The Toolkit is for students working in teams. Students can also access additional help through the Content Labs which provide a question and answer forum with instructors.
When conducting research, you must be able to identify key information in articles. Have a research plan for reading assignments and information. Use the SQ3R (survey, question, read, recite and review) technique to flush out important elements.

UPHOLDING ACADEMIC HONESTY

As an Axia college student you are bound by an academic honesty policy. When using the university's resources, communicating with instructors and fellow classmates, you must be truthful. Cite references and sources. Do not resort to plagiarism, the act of using another person's work as you own. If you need to use more than two words of the original material you will either rephrase or cite your source.
