Constitution of the Association of Graduate Nursing Students
Preamble: Association of Graduate Nursing Students (AGNS)

Article I
1) Purpose
a) The purpose of the AGNS is to promote the academic and professional development of graduate nursing students through organized meetings, advocacy, virtual needs assessment, and social events designed to encourage graduate students in nursing, who are spread throughout the Midwest and the United Statesglobal community, to meet one another and to form connections.
Article II
1) Membership
a) In no aspects of its program shall there be any difference in the treatment of persons on the basis of race, nationality, ethnicity, creed, religion, sex, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other classification which would deprive the person of consideration as an individual. The organization will guarantee that equal opportunity and equal access to membership, programming, facilities, and benefits shall be open to all persons.
b) All Students admitted to a College of Nursing graduate program, defined as any program awarding the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctoral (PhD or DNP) degrees, are granted membership to AGNS.
c) All registered graduate students, regardless of enrollment status, will be granted full rights and privileges of AGNS membership.
d) Students will be eligible for AGNS membership during each semester in which they are registered for at least one graduate level course in any College at the University of Iowa.
i) All graduate nursing students will register for AGNSNET, the official list-serv for AGNS, following graduate student orientation at the College of Nursing.
ii) AGNS members who do not register for at least one graduate level course in any College at the University of Iowa will retain the right to voice concerns to their respective program student representative(s), but will not be given a... [continues]
