ABSTRACT
Patients are the foundation of medical practices in medical sectors and it is crucial that their information on illness and health measures are well attended to. The Administrators and staff of Kenyan hospitals have been experiencing major problems in organizing and managing patient’s information. There have been reports of missing patient information, lack of security, and privacy on patient information, and hard time in allocation of patients to doctors on duty. There has also been poor ward and bed allocation to patients who are retained in hospital for further treatment and observations. HPMS will capture registration processes done by front desk staff who will issue Patient Identification Number (PID) to new patients, assignpatients to Doctors on various cases whether dental, maternity, physician, surgery and children cases, Diagnosis for diseases, and also Facilitate the admission Patients (allocation of beds in various wards).HPMS will also generate reports for patients, doctors, and health to ensure the welfare of the patient’s health.

HPMS will ensure the transformation of paper based system to an efficient, accurate and well secured system reducing time wasted in accessing patient’s information from filling cabinet in several kept files and moving it from one location to another.

I am grateful to our computer system project coordinator Dr.Gikaru for the support He has accorded us by providing good guidelines, inspirations and suggestions on writing a proposal based on your target system of design. This furthermore will facilitate efficiency in system design and documentation, also in system requirements and specification. I do also thank Mr. Kimani Njoroge who will be my supervisor through the entire period of project development including all the necessary documentations which I will forward to him.

INTRODUCTION
HPMS is a standalone system which will capture patient’s information in regard to diseases/ health or illness. The mode of being healthy includes a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of a disease.
