Executive summery

Quality Management system (QMS) is one of the important systems that each organization should develop to ensure organizational performance and also to position itself among similar organisations in the same region or market.

In this assignment we look at operational management, strategic change management and quality management systems and why organisations such as ARASA should implement integrated quality management systems that can increase organizational stability and performance. We also look into the actual plan of quality management system as an example how ARASA could be a key player in human rights field or a leader in providing quality services. We also look at the importance of monitoring and evaluation as well as Kotters eight steps in change management

Explain the importance of effective operations management in achieving organisational objectives.

Operations management is a multi-disciplinary field that focuses on managing all aspects of an organization's operations. "The typical organization consists of the integration of many different functions, (" wrote Howard J. Weiss and Mark E. Gershon in Production and Operations Management.")

Operations management refers to the administration of business practices to create the highest level of efficiency possible within an organization. Operations management is concerned with converting inputs (materials/ raw meterials) and labor into outputs (goods and services) as efficiently as possible to maximize the profit of an organization. Operational managers have different tasks and activities in organisations and these tasks are divided in direct, indirect and broad responsibilities. Direct responsibilities – the activities which are directly related to producing and delivering products and services Indirect responsibilities – the activities involved in interfacing with other parts of the organisation.

Broad responsibilities – a wider set of tasks that involve scanning the business, social and political environment in which the organisation exists in order to understand its context. At ARASA even though we do not have operational manager but we as programme managers we are responsible to make sure that the organisation achieve its objectives both at a strategic and operational level.

At a strategic level we make sure that projects objectives are aligned to that of the organisation and at the operational level we ensure that all the inputs which are resources which includes labor are translated into outputs which are services that we offer our partners this include training and capacity building activities as well as advocacy activities.

We also ensure that all the organisational systems are streamlined to ensure organisational stability and achievements of its strategic objectives. Streamlining and management of daily strategic and operational activities ensure that each programme and projects contribute to strategic objectives of ARASA and that’s why it is important that it is done on a daily basis so that we contribute to overall organisational...
