Executive Summary
This is a research on GlaxoSmithKline a pharmaceutical concern has been conducted to primarily understand two aspects. First is to comprehend the current strategy of the company and second is to suggest an apt strategy to the company after analyzing the conditions of the pharmaceutical industry and the political, social and legal environment at large. The report would further elaborate on the main strengths and weaknesses of the company and take into consideration the threats and opportunities for the company to consider. The report will be ended by some key financial analysis and the conclusion stating and reinforcing the strategy suggested to understand the depth of the analysis in much more detail.

INTRODUCTION

The Company, GSK is the research based pharmaceutical company and its operations are spread globally. Their mission is to develop innovative medicines and products that help millions of people around the world. They are one of the few pharmaceutical companies researching both medicines and vaccines for the World Health Organization’s three priority diseases – HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, and are very proud to have developed some of the leading global medicines in these fields. They produce medicines that treat six major disease areas: asthma, virus control, infections, mental health, diabetes and digestive conditions. In addition, they are a leader in the important area of vaccines and are developing new treatments for cancer. Bring a leader brings responsibility. This means that they care about the impact that they have on the people and places touched by their mission to improve health around the world.

GlaxoSmithKline’s vision has translated into a decade of excellence and achievement: “the opportunity to make a difference to the lives of billions of people” Every member of the GSK family strives to contribute his/her time, talents, and ideas to make a real and meaningful contribution towards improving the quality of human life.
